Palace balks at filing raps against MILF

Malacañang is cautious on filing charges against members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who were responsible for the killing of 44 police commandos in Maguindanao last week.

In a news briefing on Monday, its spokesman Edwin Lacierda explained that they can only hope that the MILF will demonstrate “sincerity” in forging peace by helping the government find closure to the massacre case.

“We have said that the MILF must demonstrate its sincerity that they are full partners in the peace process. We certainly will encourage them to help us find things that we need to search for the truth,” the Palace official said.

Malacañang is yet to issue a strong condemnation of the killing or ensure justice by making the killers pay.

But officials said charges will be filed against those who mowed down the Special Action Force (SAF) commandos as well as those who planned the police operation to arrest suspected terrorists.

Lacierda said there are mechanisms in place that should be respected by both parties.

“What those are, what the mechanisms are, we have said that we will investigate and look for those who have been responsible,” he told reporters.

“We would hope that part of their good faith is to show us. Let us know also what happened, the truth, and we would like also if we want to seek justice that kind of justice that we want is a justice that seeks accountability,” Lacierda said.

According to him, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has been preparing for the filing of charges against the killers of the 44 policemen.

  1. It’s good to be cautious….. but what does the Palace means of being cautious? Law is law…. if they commited anything that is against the law of the government of the Philippines and proven guilty? They should pay prize of the crime they committed. Cautious?

  2. Ang mamatay ng dahil sa BBL.

Ang mamatay ng dahil sa walang rescue.

Ang mamatay ng dahil sa duwag na Presidente.

I salute you Fallen 44 you guys died gallantly.

  3. Cautious? What is there to be cautious about? They killed our men, killing is crime, crimes must be prosecuted. Then again is it caution or cowardice?

  4. It is apparent that Pres. B.S. Aquino’s government is a ‘weakling’; it doesn’t have the strength and integrity to rely in its quest for peace in Mindanao.

  5. Do you think terrorist wil do that? the government is just being manipualted that ..give us what we want , and we have a talk..
Its shows how weak is our government in dealing with these scum..a few hundreds and we give to them entire mindanao and we have to dial them , that our military will have to wait for their answer to let us step on their ..”own territory”
We become an alien in our republic because we are so afraid to them…sad republic

“there is no worse price than capitulating before an enemy who attacks you without any right to do so.” The President, leaders of Congress, and former leaders who are advocating supporting the BBL are guilty of TREASON to the nth degree defined in the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines.

They want to exchange a portion of Philippine Territory and bestow authority (judicial, legislative, and executive) to a select few; blatantly discriminating against other Filippino citizens in favor of the enemies of our nation.

These tyrants also invite themselves to rely on a foreign power – Malaysia, to act as the arbiter and venue of this unConstitutional deal..

In view of this extraordinary crisis and with the ultimate aim of protecting the Filipino People, The Philippine Military should arrest these tyrants and present them for trial-in-custody to the full bench of the Supreme Court for treason.

Immediately within 3 days thereafter, the vacant positions in both Executive & Legislature should be filled-up according to the succession mandates of the Constitution.

The Military should not usurp any Consitutional Authority vested on the civilian government. The military shall only serve the interim President appointed by the Constitution as their Commander-in-Chief.

The democratic processes of elections shall not be delayed and should be held peacefully in 100% compliance with normal schedule per our Constitution.

Enemies of the Republic of the Philippines are MNLF, MILF, Communists Party, etc whose common-denominator is their mission of the downfall and dis-integration of the Philippines and its territory.

Integrity of the Territory of The Philippines since its Declaration of Independence more than 100 years ago must be upheld, defended, and fought for, even unto death, by every Filipino.

Negotiation with any of the groups of rebels, gangters, and terrorists is simply “capitulating before an enemy” of the Philippines.
