THE search for a new Commission on Audit (COA) chief is on.
Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said Malacanang is looking for replacement of COA Chairman Grace Pulido Tan, whose term of office ends on February 2, 2015.
Appointed in 2011, Tan is serving the remaining four years of the seven-year term of her predecessor, Reynaldo Villar.
“Considering the significance of the Commission on Audit as an independent constitutional body and considering the proximity of the retirement date or the end-of-term date, I think it is well within the regular activity of the executive branch, particularly the Office of the President, to be making the necessary preparations,” Coloma said.
Coloma said the President will definitely look for someone with integrity and competence. He could not say however is Bureau of Internal Revenue chief Kim Henares is being considering for the top COA post.
