Palace tells Filipinos: ‘Go out and vote’

Malacañang has called on the public to go out and vote right on Monday for the Barangay elections.

Palace deputy spokesman Abigail Valte underscored the importance of barangay elections as barangay officials take the first action when the public is in need.

”It’s very, very important. We ask everybody to go out on Monday and to vote and make sure that the ones that you vote for will reflect your inclination towards your needs, the needs of your community,” she said.

The Palace official also assured the people of peaceful barangay elections

The Philippine National Police (PNP), she said, is now on “full alert” status to ensure peace and order for Monday’s polls.

She said that a total of 51 election-related incidents have recorded between September 28 to October 24.

The government’s aim is to lessen the number of election-related incidents throughout the country, she added

The Commission on Election said the nationwide barangay election has fielded 809,136 candidates – 94,124 for barangay captain and 715,012 for kagawads in 42,028 barangays.
The number of registered voters is 52,051,626.

The barangay election is on October 28 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Votes will be counted manually.
