Preparations for the 2016 Palarong Pambansa are now in full swing in Albay to ensure the successful staging of the 59th edition of the annual sporting event for high school and elementary students.
More than 20 venues are being prepared including the state-of-the-art Albay Sports and Tourism Complex located at the Bicol University campus which will be the main venue of the competitions scheduled on April 10 to 18.
The centerpiece athletics and swimming events will be staged at the sports complex while the other venues are Sagrada Familia Gymnasium, Ibalong Centrum for Reccreation, Sunshine International School and Sto. Domingo Basketball Court for basketball; Bicol College, Buceng Gymnasium, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Gymnasium and Engineering Office Gymnasium for volleyball; and Bicol University Football Field and Albay Provincial Sports Center for football.
The other venues are Albay Astrodome (badminton), Divine Word HIgh School Gymnasium (arnis), St. Agnes Academy (gymnastics), Aquinas Dome (tae kwon do), Camp Ola Tennis Court (tennis), Ayala Mall (billiards), Guinobatan Covered Court (futsal), Arandurugan Hall (wrestling), Hotel St. Ellis (wushu), Daraga Covered Court (sepak takraw), Mayo Riviera Subdivision (softball), Provincial Engineering Office (archery), Penaranda Park (boxing), Aquinas University Student Pavilion (chess) and Camalig Covered Court (table tennis).
The multisporting event will be hosted by the Provincial Government of Albay in cooperation with the Department of Education, the Philippine Sports Commission and other local government units.
