AMBASSADOR Roberto Carlos Vallarino of Panama topped the Air Hockey competition organized by the Embassy of Panama over the weekend at the Power Station in Power Plant Mall, Rockwell Center Makati City.
“I really love air hockey. If I keep promoting this sport, there is a good chance it could become the next new big thing. People from different nations, 14 years old to 47, have joined the tournament. Everybody can play this sport,” Vallarino, 36, told The Manila Times.
Air hockey is played by two players equipped with mallets and a puck on a special low-friction playing table.
“I hosted this tournament to promote a healthy lifestyle through sports,” Vallarino added.
A total of 21 players from the Philippines, Panama, Pakistan, United States, China, Uruguay and Honduras joined the tournament. Philippine Sports Commission Chairman Richie Garcia also attended the event.
