URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan: A member of a gun for hire, drug pushing and highway robbery gang was killed when he engaged an undercover policeman in a gunfight during an entrapment in Barangay Nancamaliran East here on Thursday. Supt. Neil O. Miro, city chief of police identified the slain suspect as Vergil Lutrania of Nancamaliran West. Lutrania died while being treated for multiple gunshot wounds at Urdaneta City District Hospital. The operation stemmed from the complaint of Carol Jovellanos-Tan and Mark Francis Hidalgo, both restaurant singers, who were robbed at gunpoint by unidentified gunmen who flagged them down along Nancamaliran East the national highway. The suspects took Tan’s bag, including her cellphone which was contacted by the police. Tan negotiated with the suspects who demanded P20,000 in exchange for her bag and personal belongings, hence an entrapment was carried out.
