To promote a strong sense of nationhood through culture and the arts, the municipality of Anda in Pangasinan held the Anda Binongey-Silag Festival from April 16 to 20.
Anda, historically known as the “mother of the hundred islands,” being the biggest island formerly the Cabarruyan Island, is suitable for grazing and farming with verdant pasture and fertile lowland where springs are abundant. However, the advent of technology has put a threat on the traditional practices of Anda.
Under the auspices of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), this festival is a way to restore the identity of Anda by engaging the community in cultural performances and presentations.
