Pangasinan village chief nabbed for violence against women


CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives arrested a village chief in Umingan town in Pangasinan on Wednesday for alleged violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act. CIDG Director Chief Supt. Victor Deona, quoting reports from the field, identified the village chieftain as Mario Fernandez, the incumbent chief of Barangay Poblacion East in Umingan town in Pangasinan. The arrest was made based on the warrant was issued by Judge Emma Parajas, of the Regional Trial Court Branch 52 of Tayug, Pangasinan.
