Papuan student nabbed for theft


A 22-year-old flying school student from Papua New Guinea was arrested in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental after a coed from Carcar City in Cebu accused her of theft. Senior Supt. Harris Fama, Negros Oriental Police Office director, identified the arrested suspect as Mitchell Auwep Samilo, a student of Royal Flight Training School. Samilo was detained based on the complaint of Fatima Biyok Bazare who said that her bag containing some P23,500 cash and other personal belongings were missing from her rented pad. Samilo was seen in the CCTV footage stealing the said items and was immediately arrested by Bazare and her companions through a citizen’s arrest and turned her over to the police and now detained at the Dumaguete City Police Station while appropriate charges are being readied against her.
