• Parade marks development of province after Bataan’s fall

BALANGA CITY, Bataan: The provincial government of Bataan and the City of Balanga on Wednesday marked the 73rd year of the Fall of Bataan with a parade of colorful floats highlighting resurrection and development of the province after it fell to Japanese forces in 1942. Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, now Ilocos Norte Second District representative, joined Bataan officials headed by Gov. Albert Garcia, World War II veterans and guests in watching the floats and the reenactment of war scenes. A group of student-actors reenacted the “Death March” along the entire length of the parade route from the Balanga Elementary School to the Bataan capitol. A float depicting the Friendship Tower built in Bagac, Bataan, by members of a Japanese society was among the floats that joined the parade. Those who witnessed the event included Japanese citizens.
