• Parañaque to implement fishing ban for APEC summit

The forthcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit may hurt some fishermen as they will be banned to the coastline of Parañaque City in November. Mario Jimenez, chief of the city special services division, said the city tapped the Philippine Coast Guard and the Bantay Kalikasan Task Force to implement the ban from Parañaque up to Manila Bay. The fishing ban, he noted, is necessary to secure the delegates who would be staying in hotels in the reclamation area. About 150 fishermen, who will be affected by the ban were already informed of the plan.
