Parents rally vs principal in Pangasinan school

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan: Parents held Monday a picket rally at the Buenlag Elementary School (BCS) in Calasiao town where they sought the ouster and replacement of the school principal and accused her of not being transparent in handling school funds.

The parents of pupils studying at BCS allegedly locked the school gate and conducted a demonstration asking the replacement of the school principal, Dr. Digna Bauzon.

Informed of the demonstration that disrupted classes, Pangasinan II school division superintendent Alma Ruby Torio sent her assistant superintendent Dr. Sheila Primicias to the school to personally look into the matted and resolve the problem.

“I was informed that she (Dr. Primicias) met up with the teachers… We will resolve the issue, that will be properly addressed,” said Torio in a talk to newsmen at her office.

Torio said per the report of Primicias, the school principal is allegedly being accused of lack of transparency with regard school funds.

“I was surprised since there is no pending complaint here in the division office (about that matter) ,” said Torio, adding “there is no previous complaint against the principal in question except by anonymous letters.

Neither is she aware of case on the matter filed before the regional office in San Fernando City, La Union.

BCS has around a thousand pupils with at least 29 teachers, Torio said.

At the same time, Torio appealed to parents not to disrupt classes because it is their children studying in that school who are being affected. PNA
