• Parrenas battles Carmona for WBO super flyweight interim belt

Reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental super flyweight champion Warlito “Cowboy” Parrenas will battle David Carmona of Mexico on June 20 for the interim WBO World super flyweight belt at Distrito Federal in Mexico City. Parrenas’ Filipino trainer Sammy Nietes Bernabe said his 31-year-old fighter from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental aims to score a knockout victory against his younger Mexican foe to avoid being a victim of “hometown decision.” Parrenas, who holds 24 wins with 21 knockouts against six losses, is coming off a back-to-back knockout wins in the Philippines before ascending to the no. 1 spot of the WBO super flyweight world rankings.
