A village chief and a councilman were killed by motorcycle-riding men believed to be members of the notorious “Deadly Death Squad” or DDS, a group out to liquidate persons involved in illegal drugs, in separate shooting incidents in Pasay City Wednesday night.
Killed were Alberto Arguilles, chairman of Barangay 4, Zone 2 and Moises Aniviado, councilman of Barangay 61, Zone 8.
Arguilles sustained several gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at San Juan De Dios Hospital.
Aniviado, meanwhile, died on the spot.
According to a police report, Arguilles was gunned down at 7:25 p.m. on the corner of E. Rodriguez and Tankian streets. The victim was shot several times at close range.
Minutes later, Aniviado was shot several times near his house.
The police have yet to confirm if the two killings were drug-related.
Meanwhile, three suspected drug pushers, including a policeman, were shot dead in a buy-bust operation in Taguig City Thursday morning.
Killed were PO3 Leonilo Quiambao, reportedly detailed at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Byran Olivers and Edwin Reyes.
Police said the suspects sustained multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies that led to their instantaneous death.
Investigation showed that operatives of the Southern Police District conducted a drug operation against the suspects at 2:20 a.m. at a house in GHQ Village, Barangay Katuparan.
However, the suspects sensed the presence of the policemen and shot them, prompting the authorities to return fire.
