The new year has yet to start but already, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is reminding taxpayers to file and pay their taxes early to avoid penalties.

BIR Deputy Commissioner Nelson M. Aspe appealed to all taxpayers not to wait for the April 15 tax filing deadline and start preparing and submitting their annual Income Tax Returns and other necessary documents as early as January 2016.
