PHILIPPINE basketball’s legends and show business personalities will take time off from their schedules to hit the court in a friendly match in support of the senatorial bid of former Tesda chief Joel Villanueva.
The “Shoot for Your Dreams” benefit game is slated on Wednesday, February 3, at 6 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City (Metro Manila).
The game will feature Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players past and present and some of today’s hottest entertainers, with money from tickets going to a pooled fund for Villanueva’s campaign.
Villanueva is making his first bid for the Senate in the May 2016 elections.
During his stint as Tesda [Technical Education and Skills Development Authority] as director general from 2010 to 2015, Villanueva is seen as having catapulted technical-vocational education in the country to new heights, and making it the youth’s vehicle toward employment.
Prior to his post at Tesda, he was a member of Congress for nine years as representative of the party-list Citizens Battle Against Corruption.
Villanueva is a basketball fan and plays the sport himself.
The All Star Team, coached by Beaujing Acot, will be composed of LA Tenorio, Japeth Aguilar, Zanjoe Marudo, Rayver Cruz, Jason Abalos, Eduardo Daquioag, Jervy Cruz, Jericho Cruz and Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro Ynares 3rd.
Signing up for Team Trabaho are Villanueva, Jerry Codinera, Marlou Aquino, Kenneth Duremdes, Bal David, Rodney Santos, Bobby Jose, Alvin Patrimonio, Johnny Abarrientos and Noli Locsin.
The game ticket is priced at P200 each.
