PBA: Rain or Shine routs Globalport for early lead

Arizone Reid scored 27 points while Ryan Arana fired 21 as Rain or Shine massacred Globalport Batang Pier, 94-74, on Saturday to take an early lead in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s
Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo City.
Down by just two points, 21-23, in the opening quarter, Reid started his move to put the Elasto Painters on top by eight points, 41-33, at the half en route to their second straight win in the season-ending
“It’s a big edge in a short conference format to have an early 2-0 lead. It’s the
best chance you get to go to the next round. We have is to win early.
We are… wer trying to get Gabe Norwood and Jeff back into their
regular rhythm. Gagamda pa yung laro pag nakabalik na sila.” said Rain
or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
Markeith Cummings tried to spark a rally for Batang Pier, but the Elasto Painters poured it on for a
71-58 lead going into the final frame.
“I’m happy with Reid. He’s working hard on the boards, he shot
better now and he’s defending well. I am not looking for anything
more, I am looking for the guys to blend well. Ryan (Arana) Paul Lee
and Beau Belga played well today, that’s the usual ideal situation that
we really wanted,” added Guiao.
Also contributing for the Elasto Painters was Paul Lee with 15 points. Cummings topscored for Batang Pier with 23 points and Solomon Mercado had 13.
Meralco goes for its second straight win when it faces Barako Bull, while Barangay Ginebra will parade 6’5 Dior Lowhorn against sister team Petron Blaze Sunday in the resumption of the games
at the Araneta Coliseum.
