THE Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the country’s largest business organization, has launched a help desk to promote and facilitate trade and investment in the regions and provinces as a way of growing business in the countryside.
The PCCI-Local Government Units Trade and Investment Promotion Desk (TIP) is a bridge between the government and local business communities to create and enhance an encouraging business environment in the regions and achieve inclusive growth, PCCI President George T. Barcelon said in a statement.
The TIP desk is in line with the PCCI program to engage local government units (LGU) in promoting an investment-led and poverty-reducing economic growth.
It will build on the gains of the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED), an eight-year program implemented by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and funded by the Canadian Government.
The program promotes the development of new and improved policies at the national and local levels, as well as the development of local initiatives that build competitive local industries, particularly in agribusiness and tourism.
The TIP desk has produced investment guides for tourism in Northern Palawan, Northern Antique, Guimaras, Albay-Sorsogon, Northern Cebu, Siquijor, Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Davao del Norte.
