PCGG wants National Museum to hold Marcos paintings

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) wants the seized paintings owned by the family of the late President Ferdinand Marcos to be transferred to the National Museum for safekeeping. The PCGG has asked the Sandiganbayan to relieve the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) of its responsibility as custodian of the artworks, which were seized during the pendency of the civil dispute between the State and Marcos’ estate. On September 30, 15 of such paintings were turned over to the BSP pursuant to a court order directing the seizure of the artworks and their delivery to the central bank for deposit. However, the BSP warned that it has no suitable place for the artwork.
