Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Charity Assistance Department Manager Rubin Magno and CAD Special Projects Division Chief Muriel Pajarillo and staff, in cooperation with the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the local government units of Talavera and Llanera, Nueva Ecija launched the second Provincial Milk Feeding Program (MFP) of the Agency on May 30 to May 31.
Said towns were selected after several months of consultative meetings among representatives from PCSO, NDA and the local government units of Talavera and Llanera.
With a high rate of malnourished children aged two to six years old in these towns, PCSO finally carried out its second provincial milk feeding program in the area. The first milk feeding outside Metro Manila was launched in Masbate City in December 2015.
During the launching of the milk feeding program in Talavera and Llanera, fresh milk was distributed by the National Federation of Dairy Carabao Cooperative (NEFEDCCO). At least 250 children from each town will benefit from this program for 120 days, which commenced on June 5.
The local officials of Talavera and Llanera thanked PCSO for choosing their respective towns as beneficiaries of the program.
PCSO’s MFP aims to improve the health and nutritional status of children within the nutritionally susceptible target age group by providing milk in duly identified areas.
