THE Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has expressed its deepest gratitude to the services given by its esteemed member of the PCSO Board of Directors, Loreto Ata, a lawyer who died from cardiac arrest onJuly 7. He was 66.
PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan said Ata’s death is a big loss to the agency and the PCSO family.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Director Ata. He is a great loss to the agency,” Balutan added.
Ata, who has been battling lung cancer for more than two years, assumed office as a member of the PCSO Board of Directors on September 13, 2016 and was the chairman of the PCSO’s risk management committee and member of the governance committee and the nomination and remuneration/compensation committee.
He earned his Political Science (valedictorian) and Law (magna cum laude) degrees at the Far Eastern University in 1972 and 1976, respectively.
Ata was a senior partner in the Medialdea Ata Bello Guevarra & Suarez Law Firm from 2007 until his passing.
He served as a member of the transition team of then-Davao City mayor and now President Rodrigo Duterte.
Ata’s remains lie at the Loyola Memorial Chapels and Crematorium in Makati City.
