“The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s services to the public will remain unaffected even as the office is transferring its location.”
This was according to PCSO Vice Chairman and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas 2nd, in response to a full-page advertisement of the Sweepstakes Employees’ Union (SEU) that appeared on May 23 in a major broadsheet.
The SEU membership comprises rank-and-file employees of PCSO. They are seeking for a halt to the ongoing transfer of the PCSO Main Office from the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City to Mandaluyong City.
The transfer is being done to allow PICC to undertake major renovations and rehabilitation of their facilities in preparation for the upcoming APEC international forums in 2015.
PCSO’s executive offices and three other departments have already transferred to the new location, with others set to follow this weekend and in the coming weeks until the end of June.
The PCSO Charity Assistance Department, which provides the agency’s core service of medical assistance, will remain at its present location at the Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City.
Plans to build a permanent PCSO building at its property on San Marcelino St., Manila, are already underway.
Rojas said that a temporary restraining order filed by the SEU was denied by the Regional Trial Court of Mandaluyong City on May 16. A hearing on the matter has been set for June 17.
