PDBF bags silver in Macau meet


The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) settled for a silver medal in the 2015 Macau International Invitational Dragon Boat Championship held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Center in Macau, China.

The Filipina paddlers crossed the finish line in two minutes and 11.20 second to pocket the second place honors in the women’s 500-meter standard dragon boat race.

China-Nan Hai jiujiang dominated the event in 2:02.04 while China-Tianjin bagged the bronze medal in 2:11.33.

Macau Galaxy placed fourth (2:11.56) followed by Macau MGM (2:12.70) and Macau Selection Team (2:13.04).

In the men’s 500-meter standard dragon boat race, the Filipino squad registered 1:57.27 to end up fifth overall.

The Indonesia National Team pocketed the gold (1:53.09) while China Nan Hai Jiujiang placed second (1:53.43), Golden Jubilee wound up third (1:54.78) and the Thailand National Team took the fourth spot (1:55.68).

The PDBF has been successful in international competitions for the past years including its two-golf, one-silver, one-bronze showing in the 1st International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) Dragon Boat World Cup in Fuzhou, China and one-gold, two-silver output in the Asian Dragon Boat Championships also held in Macau.
