The Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF) Sinag-Perlas copped one gold and one silver in the 2015 Penang Pesta Dragon Boat International Races held at the Teluk Behang Dan in Penang, Malaysia.

The PDBF Sinag-Perlas dominated the International Premier Women’s 100-meter Sprints Small Boat after submitting 32.17 seconds, beating second-placer Macau Selection (32.46) and third-placer Nanyang Technological University Dragon Boat Team-Singapore (33.10).

The Filipino paddlers also secured a silver in the Mixed 250m Small Boat by virtue of their two-minute, 27.89-second performance.

Singapore Institute Management ruled the event with a time of 2:26.87 while Nanyang Technological University Dragonboat Team-Singapore settled for bronze anew with 2:29.86

“Winning gold and silver over 40 dragon boat teams we were able to carry on the mission of Philippine Dragon Boat Federation to give glory, pride and honor to our country and fellowmen, and help promote and support the dragon boat sports worldwide,” said team mentor Rhowie Enriquez.

The PDBF Sinag-Perlas is composed of paddlers from the Philippine Blue Phoenix, Triton Dragon Boat Racing Team, One Piece Drakon Sangres, Onslaught Racing Dragons, Amateur Paddlers Philippines, Bruins: Racers of High Sea, University of the Philippines Alumni Crew, Maharlika Drakon and Pilipinas Wave Warriors.

In August, the PDBF won four gold medals in the 2015 International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Racing Championships held at the Welland International Flatwater Center in Ontario, Canada.
