PDEA operative gunned down in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY: A Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operative was killed inside his home Saturday in Zamboanga City, police said.

It said a lone gunman barged in the house of Joel Sacro, 38, and shot him. The assailant escaped after the attack.

It was unknown if the killing was connected to the arrest of 5 people during a drug raid in the neighboring village of Tetuan on Friday.

Police commandos swooped down on a house owned by couple Marimar at Sheralyn Ajurani and arrested Vilma Musahari, 55; Nuhin Jordan, 31; Kunna Muhalib, 50; Tani Asarakil, 20; and Hadzkil Asarakil, 15.

Authorities also seized in the house suspected illegal drugs, weapons and munitions, including cash amounting to P94,000 but the couple was not at home when police forces raided the house.

Illegal drug trade in Zamboanga City is rampant.
