• PDEA shuts drug den, arrests 4 suspects


    The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed a drug den and arrested four persons, including the den owner, in a buy-bust operation in Zamboanga Sibugay, the agency said in a statement on Saturday.

    PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino identified the drug den owner as Agnes Sali Pondo, 37 years old, also known as Agnes Sampigan.

    The other suspects were Cherry Tilulong Manalibang, 29; Jimboy Sali Pondo, 18; and Rolando Espñol Balugay, also known as Lando.

    On November 27, PDEA Regional Office 9, under the supervision of Director Lyndon Aspacio, assisted the local police in Purok Reservoir, Barangay Don Andres, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay in arresting the suspects.

    Confiscated from the suspects were four pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P50,000, various drug paraphernalia and P500 buy-bust money.

    The suspects will be charged for violating Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), Section 6 (maintenance of drug den), Section 7 (visiting a drug den), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Section 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) and Section 15 (use of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

    In a separate operation two hours before at 6:20 pm, Apdal “Dedel” Mohammad Mabol, 42, was arrested by the operating team in Purok Neptune, Barangay Bangkerohan.

    According to Aspacio, five sachets of shabu worth P4,000, one folded aluminum foil and P300 buy-bust money were found in Mabol’s possession.

    Aspacio said Mabol would be charged for violating Section 5, Section 11 and Section 12 of Article II of RA 9165.
