GONZAGA town’s youth groups will spearhead a “peace rally” at 4 p.m. on May 4 following last week’s brutal killing of Mayor Carlito Pentecostes Jr. during flag raising rites. Local officials said the youth-spearheaded peace rally will be joined by the different sectors of the community who will be wearing white shirts. Organizers and residents have already began installing streamers all over the town with words printed condemning the killing and calling for justice for their murdered mayor. The 60-year-old Pentecostes, who was shot to death by two of eight armed men in camouflage who attacked the town’s flag raising ceremony on April 21, will be laid to rest on May 8. Meanwhile, newly installed Mayor Rene Salvanera announced the cancellation of the annual town fiesta celebration dubbed as “Dawa Festival” which is supposed to be held on May 12-16.
