Peavy signs new deal with World Series champions

SAN FRANCISCO: Veteran pitcher Jake Peavy, who helped San Francisco win the World Series for the third time in five seasons, has signed a two-year deal to remain with the Giants. The team announced that the 33-year-old right-hander would remain in San Francisco, who obtained him from Boston in July just ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline. The deal, reportedly worth $20 million, comes after Peavy revived his fortunes in 2014 following only one win in 20 starts with the Red Sox.
