mitsu-strada20140429MITSUBISHI Motors Phils. Corp. (MMPC) has made the Mitsubishi Strada GLS Sport V 4×4 pickup more exciting with the release of the 2014 rendition of this completely built unit from Thailand.

The upgraded truck is available with a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automatic transmission.

MMPC said several exterior and interior enhancements and accessories have been added to the Strada GLS Sport V to make it look sportier and more rugged even as the model keeps its versatility. The pickup’s grille is now chromed and the front bumper is color-keyed with a silver garnish. Its projector-type halogen headlamps, front fog lamps and dealer-option Ralliart front skid plate also get a refresh. Adding to the pickup’s active character is the exclusive tattoo on its lower body.

Another new feature of the 2014 Strada GLS Sport V is the dealer-option electronic, lift-type cargo bed cover that’s weatherproof, ensuring items stored in the bed are protected. These new features make the Strada the perfect double-cab pickup for family use or as a business workhorse, MMPC said.

Similar to the Montero Sport, the Strada GLS Sport V is powered by Mitsubishi’s 4D56 2.5-liter, DOHC, 16-valve, common rail direct injection diesel engine that has a variable geometry turbocharger and an intercooler. The engine produces 175hp at 4,000rpm and 400Nm of torque when bolted to the manual transmission and 350Nm from 1,800rpm to 3,500rpm when paired with the automatic gearbox.

MMPC said the Strada’s wheelbase of 3,000 millimeters, front tread of 1,520 millimeters and rear tread of 1,515 millimeters are set to improve both handling stability without sacrificing ride comfort for daily drives or in out-of-town sprints. The front tread’s dimensions also lead to an increase in maximum steering angle, permitting a class-leading minimum turning radius of 5.9 meters, making the truck highly maneuverable even on narrow roads.

The Strada GLS Sport V is also equipped with a fully integrated information and entertainment system that has GPS navigation, vehicle information display and multimedia entertainment. MMPC said this comes in a user-friendly module that allows the driver to easily navigate in urban or rural areas with the built-in GPS system.

Beyond the Strada’s good looks are safety features recognized by the European New Car Assessment Program and its Australian counterpart. MMPC said this can be attributed to the Strada’s comprehensive safety system that offers all its occupants greatly improved collision protection. Mitsubishi’s exclusive Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body construction incorporates front and rear crumple zones with reinforced beams to absorb collision force and direct it away from the vehicle’s interior. The engine and drive components also absorb energy, preventing further damage from reaching the cabin. The Strada has a highly rigid body framework that is efficient in terms of absorbing impact energy.

The 2014 Strada GLS Sport V is available in seven colors; Gemstone Gray Mica, Cool Silver, Rosita Red, Mystic Blue, Virgil Gray, Polar White and Pyrenese Black. The manual transmission variant sells for P1.280 million while the automatic transmission version costs P1.380 million. MMPC said it backs up the pickup with a three-year or a 100,000-kilometer warranty.
