Perpetual Altas aim for 7th victory

The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Altas will gun for their eighth victory when they clash against the Lyceum University of the Philippines Pirates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 91 men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City at 4 p.m. today.

The Altas under coach Aric Del Rosario that are currently occupying the third position with a 7-3 win-loss record are keen to bounce back from their 65-70 loss to the Mapua Cardinals. Perpetual is expected to rely on playmaker Earl Scottie Thompson and 6’7 Nigerian center Bright Akhuetie in their battle against the Pirates.

Despite the 3-7 win-loss record of Lyceum, the Pirates of coach Topex Robinson are aiming to prolong their three-game winning streak when they face the Altas.

Victor Nguidjol, who finished with 15 points plus 17 rebounds in Lyceum’s last game against San Sebastian, is expected to join forces with teammates Mer Ayaay and Jebb Bulawan against the Altas.

In the first game at 2 p.m., the Arellano University Chiefs are on the hunt for their seventh win when they face the College of Saint Benilde Blazers. Saint Benilde is now at the ninth spot with a 2-7 record.

The Chiefs with a 6-4 win-loss record will try to hand the Blazers their eighth loss.

Arellano lost to the Heavy Bombers 112-114 in overtime game last week.
