Unbeaten University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Arellano University will be disputing the solo lead in Group B of the FilOil Flying V Pre-season Premier Cup at 5 p.m. today at the San Juan Arena.

Both teams hold a pristine 3-0 win-loss record in the tournament that also includes Far Eastern University, National University, San Sebastian College Recoletos (SSCR), Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), University of the Philippines and College of Saint Benilde (CSB).

The Chiefs, who won their last game against the CSB Blazers, will be banking on the prowess of Michael Salado and Bylle Meca against the Altas.

Salado and Meca displayed impressive performances in their last game against CSB in the absence of star point guard Jiovanni Jalalon, who sustained an eyebrow cut.

Kraniel Villoria, Donald Gumaru and Lervin Flores will be fortifying the offense of Arellano while Dioncee Holts and Adam Gupilan will boost the team’s frontline.

On the other hand, the Altas are set to rely on the duo of forward Gab Daganon and Bright Akhuetie in their attempt to conquer the Chiefs.

The high-scoring tandem of Daganon and Akhuetie had a combined output of 24 points and 15 rebounds in their previous game against the EAC Generals.

Standouts Jonathan Yuhico, Daryl Singontiko and Nigerian center Prinze Eze will also bolster the Altas’ roster.

In the other game, the EAC Generals are scheduled to meet the SSC-R Golden Stags in the first match 1:30 p.m.

The Generals are aiming to record their initial win in the competition while the Stags are aiming to bounce back from their five-point loss against the NU Bulldogs, 70-65 in their last game.

Adamson University and Lyceum of the Philippines University will clash in the second game at 3:15 p.m.

Adamson is still winless in two games while Lyceum is aiming for its second victory.
