Perpetual pummels EAC in men’s volley


Reigning men’s division champion University of Perpetual Help System Dalta beat Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC), 25-23, 25-19, 25-15, on Tuesday in the men’s division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Season 92 volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

Rey Taneo came through big with 13 hits, nine off spikes and four on blocks, while doing everything in defense with his superb digs and receptions while his brother Relan facilitated 30 excellent sets.

It was the Generals’ fourth straight loss.

In women’s play, Perpetual Help routed EAC, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18, to nail its first win after losing to reigning titlist College of St. Benilde and San Beda College.

The Lady Generals’ record fell to 0-3 (win-loss).

In juniors’ action, EAC rallied from a set down to pull the rug from under defending champion Perpetual Help, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 25-21, 17-15, and seize the solo lead with a perfect 3-0 record.

Ederson Rebusora unleashed a match-best 24 points while Ceejay Hicap, Dan Andrei Abardo, Francis Casas and Ralph Pitogo contributed 13, 13, 13 and 12, respectively, to avenge the Brigadiers’ heartbreaking finals defeat to the Junior Altas a season back.
