• Peso weakens after Brexit

The Philippine peso weakened against the US dollar after vote results in Great Britain showed a trend favoring an exit from the European Union.

Trading on the local currency exchange opened Friday at P46.60:$1 before hitting P46.96, which could well be the day’s low. The rate was back at P46.60, about an hour before the close of trade.

Volume so far stood lower at P390 million, compared with Thursday’s P591 million.
