World Boxing Association (WBA) interim light flyweight champion Randy Petalcorin will test his mettle in the flyweight division when he battles Australian Omar Kimweri on April 15 for the vacant World Boxing Council world silver flyweight crown at the Melbourne Pavillon in Victoria, Australia. “Randy will be the next legitimate star of Philippine boxing. Randy trained hard for this fight and hopes to get another belt for the Philippines. We will also keep him very active this year. We will see if he looks good in 112 but the original plan is to keep him at 108 pounds,” said Petalcorin’s manager JC Mananquil. Petalcorin (23-1-1 win-loss-draw record with 18 knockouts) won the WBA world title in August 2014 against Walter Tello of Panama via technical knockout in China. He successfully defended the belt against Chinese Yi Ming Ma in April 2015.
