• Petilla in limbo over his resignation status

Resigned Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla is set to meet with President Benigno Aquino 3rd this week to iron out issues and get update on the status of his resignation.

Petilla over  the weekend said he would be seeking clarification from the President whether his resignation was accepted.

“I am meeting the President this week,” he told The Manila Times in a text message of his plan to clarify his resignation status.

The irrevocable resignation that Petilla submitted to the President last March 26 has not been acted upon by Aquino.

He expressed willingness to extend his stay at the Department of Energy (DOE) but for a limited period only.

“I’m willing to stay temporarily to iron out all possible problems especially regarding the power situation,” Petilla said.

To maintain continuity in the department, he added, it is his hope that Aquino would appoint someone who knows the energy problem.

Petilla earlier recommended to the President to appoint Energy Undersecretary Zenaida Monsada as officer-in-charge (OIC)..

But Malacañang is reportedly eyeing former Energy chief Rafael Perpetuo Lotilla and National Transmission Co.  president Rolando Bacani as Petilla’s replacement.

    1. Not as fast as BoC whose replacement was done within so short a period of time
that it looked like a well done plan. The ink of Sevilla’s signature was still wet when Lina came to assume the post.
