PETRON Chemical Corp. donated 2,000 square meters of land to the local government of Rosario, Cavite so it can build a memorial park and make free burial available to its residents.
Mayor Nonong Ricafrente of Rosario will lead the inauguration and blessing of the cemetery on November 5 to be named as “Salinas Garden of Memories Memorial Park.”
Ricafrente said that Rosario has an ordinance giving free burial services to residents. The cost of P15,000 is being shouldered by the local government.
He added that Rosario is the first town in the country offering free burial services and soon even free interment in Salinas Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Rosario’s 20 barangays have picked the sites where their dead loved ones will be buried and there was also a place for burial for the Muslim residents, the Ricafrente said.
He also said that this will be absolutely free for the Rosario residents and that reservations won’t be entertained. The lots will be used when the dead bodies arrive.
During the November 5 inauguration, Luz Abutin, the head of Urban Poor Affairs of the Municipality of Rosario Cavite will be the first to be laid to rest in the cemetery.
