COACH Tim Cone vowed to prepare hard San Mig Coffee for Game Four as Petron Blaze is all set to take a 3-1 lead today in the best-of-seven titular series of the 38th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Import Elijah Millsap, slotman June Mar Fajardo and Marcio Lassiter led the Blaze Boosters fiery offense to win Game Three in devastating fashion (90-68) on Wednesday and a 2-1 lead in the series. Game time on Friday is set at 8 p.m.
”We made a couple of adjustments and we are very happy with the results. We hope Alex Cabagnot can come back on time. We will always play hard and give our best.”
“If the opportunity arise to make it 3-1, we will go for it,” said Petron rookie coach Gee Abanilla, whose team won Game One (100-84) but lost Game Two (93-100).
For his part, the 14-time champion coach Tim Cone refused to bow down and promise the Coffee Mixers will bounce back strong.
“We did not prepare enough for the guys to play like that in Game Three. There’s nothing specific really what went wrong. We will just forget our setback and focus once more for Game Four,” said Cone.
The Blaze Boosters, one of the original member of the league having joined in 1975 and who are also aiming for their fifth Governor’s Cup crown, which they won for the last time in 2011, are expected again to use import as a point guard and the 6’10” rookie center June Mar Fajardo to dominate the paint.
