The International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) Philippine Golf Tour holds a two-part qualifying school for the 2014 circuit beginning next week for the local pros with the Q-School for foreign players set early next year at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Registration is ongoing for the local elims slated Dec. 2-6 at Eagle Ridge’s Norman Course. All pros who failed to make the Top 40 in the just-concluded 2013 ICTSI PGT are required to go through the Q-School. It is also open to amateurs with handicaps of two (maximum 2.4 index).
Deadline for listup for the local Q-School is on Nov. 29.
The organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. also decided to conduct a separate Q-School for foreign pros to accommodate the growing number of entries who have signified their intention to play in Asia’s fastest growing pro golf league.
The foreign Q-School will be held Jan. 13-17 at Eagle Ridge’s Aoki layout with deadline for registration is on Jan. 10.
Dutch Guido Van der Valk topped the 2013 Q-School at Splendido with Japanese Tomokazu Yoshinaga and Toru Nakajima and South Koreans Phil Cho, Wooram Suh, Park Jun Song, Micah Shin, Hanmil Jung and amateur Byron Cho also making it to the tournament proper.
Entry fee is pegged at P3,500 (local) and P10,000 (foreign). For details, contact PGT (Jocelyn Duque) at 0915-7824751 or download application at \t “_blank” pgt.ph.
The top 30 players after the 72-hole tournament will gain cards for the upcoming 2014 season.
A richer, bigger tour has been lined up for next year’s circuit following the successful staging of this year’s circuit featuring 15 legs, including eight P2.5 million, four-day events.
