The Philippines’ metallic production value grew by more than a third last year as higher nickel output offset lower metal prices and the closure of major copper mines during the period, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) said.

MGB Director Leo Jasareno said that the country’s metallic production value reached P137.53 billion in 2014, up by 38 percent from P99.38 billion in 2013.
