• PH bags 2 medals in Taiwan Dragon Boat tilt

The Philippines claimed one gold and one bronze medal in the 2015 Taiwan International Dragon Boat Championships held at the Fu Lu River in Changhua County, Taiwan.

Represented by the Manila Dragons Dragon Boat Rowing Team, the Philippines topped the 500-meter mixed 12-man crew grand finals then placed third in the 500m mixed 22-man crew grand finals of the tournament participated by club crews from different parts of the region.

Manila Dragons also dominated the minor finals of the 200m mixed 12-man crew and 200m mixed 22-man crew, and wound up second in the 500m mixed 12-man crew.

The minor finals, however, was just a classification stage to determine the final placing of the teams, which did not make it to the grand finals.

Medals were awarded to the top three finishers in the grand finals.

Another team from the Philippines – the University of the Philippines Dragon Boat Team – placed fourth in the 200m mixed 22-man crew grand finals, and third in the minor finals of the 200m mixed 12-man crew and 500m mixed 22-man crew events.

Recently, the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation won four gold medals in the 2015 International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Dragon Boat Championships held in Canada.

They ruled the 200m small boat premier mixed, 200m small boat senior mixed A, 500m small boat premier mixed and 500m small boat senior mixed A.
