PH basketball team pulls out of Asian Games

Just a few hours after formally announcing the Rain or Shine participation in the Asian Games, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) had a change of heart late Thursday night and withdrew from participating in the quadrennial meet set on August 18 to September 2 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Northern Luzon Expressway coach Yeng Guiao, who was tasked to coach the Rain or Shine team in the Asian Games, reasoned out that the team’s inability to compete against Asia’s powerhouse national teams without the country’s top caliber players was the main factor why he decided to pull the team out.
