• PH bet bags 2 gold medals in Para Table Tennis tilt


    Paralympian Josephine Medina copped two gold medals in the 2015 Para Table Tennis Thailand Open held in Pattaya, Thailand.

    Medina swept all her four assignments to dominate the women’s singles Class 8.

    She defeated Kohn Duk Ja of South Korea (11-4-11-6, 11-3), Sumalee Suangtho of Thailand (11-9, 11-2, 11-6), Vaishnavi Sutar of India (11-0, 11-1, 11-1) and Siti Nor Athirah Mohd Anuar of Malaysia (11-3, 11-0, 11-1).

    Koh scored 3-1 to pocket the silver medal while Suangtho bagged the bronze with 2-2.

    Medina then joined forces with Koh and Anuar to claim the team event gold medal.

    Meanwhile, 2000 Sydney Para¬lympic Games bronze medalist Adeline Dumapong Ancheta has been re-appointed as member of the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Women in Sports Committee.

    “The Asian Paralympic Committee acknowledge your expertise and knowledge which will contribute enormously to the development of the Paralympic Movement and Para-Sports in the Asian Region,” said APC acting Secretary General Tarek Souei in a letter.

    Ancheta will serve as committee member until 2018.
