The national football team will comprise the first batch to leave for Singapore as the football competitions of the 2015 Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) begin on May 29 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
There are 30 players in the pool with veterans Amani Aguinaldo, Kenshiro Daniels, Mark Hartmann, Manny Ott, OJ Porteria and Daisuke Sato heading the list.
Also in the lineup are Luis Cesar Abadia, Ronnie Aguisanda, Nathaniel Alquiros, Arnel Amita, Fitch Arboleda, Florencio Badelic Jr., Mark Anthony Besana, Jaime Cheng, Julian Clarino, Dominic Del Rosario, Curt Dizon, Neil Dorimon, Shirmar Felongco, Daniel Gadia, Joshua Grommen, John Kanayama, Nicholas O’Donnell, Paolo Salenga, Francisco Santos, Connor Tacagni, Richard Talaroc Jr., Kennedy Uzoka, Gerardo Valmayor 3rd and Ace Villanueva.
Australian Jim Fraser is handling the Under-23 squad.
The Philippines is in Group A with Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar and Cambodia Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Brunei Darussalam and East Timor are in Group B
The Filipino booters open their campaign against Singapore on June 1 followed by Cambodia on June 3, Myanmar on June 7 and Indonesia on June 9.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the crossover semifinals.
The second batch of the delegation is scheduled to depart on June 4 including two-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines volleyball Most Valuable Player Alyssa Valdez, who will be the country’s flag bearer in the opening ceremonies on June 5.
The Philippines aims to surpass its 29-gold, 34-silver, 38-bronze medal haul in the 2013 edition held in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.
Athletics, boxing, tae kwon do, bowling, and billiards and snooker are expected to deliver gold medals for the country.
