The Philippines suffered another heart-breaking loss, this time at the hands of Taiwan, 25-21, 18-25, 12-25, 19-25, on Tuesday in the 1st Asian Women’s Under-23 Volleyball Championship at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
After the elimination round, the Philippines remains at fourth spot in Pool E with a 0-3 card while Japan topped the group with 3-0 followed by Taiwan (2-1) and Iran (1-2).
In Pool F, China grabbed the No. 1 position with 3-0 with Thailand in second (2-1), South Korea in third (1-2) and India in fourth (0-3).
The Philippines will be facing China in the quarterfinals scheduled on Thursday.
The other quarterfinal pairings are Japan and India, Taiwan and South Korea, and Thailand and Iran in the tournament sanctioned by the Asian Volleyball Confederation and International Volleyball Federation.
The top two teams in the tournament will be given automatic berths to the prestigious World Women’s Under-23 Volleyball Championship in Ankara, Turkey.
