Over 20 teams will be competing in the first Philippine Dragonboat Tour dubbed as Paddles Up scheduled on November 29 at the Manila Bay in Roxas Boulevard, Manila.
The dragonboat tour is a five-leg tour to be held in various areas in Luzon with the Philippine Canoe and Kayak Federation (PCKF) providing technical assistance.
After Manila Bay leg, the tour will head down south in Sampalok Lake in San Pablo City, Laguna on January 9 then Taal Lake in Tanauan City, Batangas on March 5, Subic Bay in Zambales on April 30 and the final leg at the Manila Bay on June 4.
The tour will feature three categories – Men (20-seater), Women (10-seater) and Open and Mixed Masters (40 years and above, 10-seater).
The race distance will be 300meters for all legs.
Besides trophies and cash prizes, the top finishers will be given circuit points depending on their order of finish per category.
First place gets 10 points while second, third and fourth placers will have seven, five and three points, respectively.
For the Manila Bay leg, the top four teams of each category will automatically qualify to the semifinals. Non-winners will have to go through the qualifying heats.
Some of the participating teams are Manila Dragons, De La Salle University, PDRT, Titans, University of the Philippines, Manila Wave, AlabSagwan, Aqua Fortis, Crimson, MBP, Pyros, Dragon Pilipinas and San Beda College.
The race is open to all PCKF members and non-members.
