The Philippines concluded its campaign in the 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing, China on Saturday with two gold and three silver medals.
Golfer Mia Legaspi and taekwondo jin Pauline Louise Lopez won the gold medals while Princess Superal, Francis Aaron Agojo and Jurence Mendoza bagged the silver medals in golf, taekwondo and tennis respectively.
“I was confident we can win the gold here but our athletes did not only deliver one but two gold medals on top of three silver medals. Definitely we can still do better. The talent is there. In as much as Southeast Asia is concerned, we could have improved our performance,” said Youth Games Chief of Mission Nathaniel “Tac” Padilla.
The country has surpassed its one silver and one bronze achievement in the first edition of the Asian Youth Games in Singapore in 2009.
