The Philippines national under-19 football team is set to start their campaign in the 2015 Asean Football Federation U19 Championship today with a match against Brunei at the Lanexang Stadium in Vientiane, Laos.
Housed in Group A together with hosts Laos, Brunei, Thailand and Cambodia, the u19 Azkals comprised of 23 players will battle the youth-level counterparts in the Southeast Asian region from August 22 to September 4.
The 12th edition of the tournament was moved to Laos after the suspension of the Indonesian Football Association by the international football governing body in May of this year.
Meanwhile, a total of 23 players have been called up to bear the country’s national colors in the tournament.
United Football League young standouts from Global FC Marco Cassambre and Mark Winhoffer banner the squad together with Michael Asong, Jeremiah Borlongan, Rexon Capellan, Jose Miguel Clarino, Matthew Custodio, Harel Dayan, Mar Diano, Kenneth Dizon, Major Dean Ebarle, Paulo Javier, Christian Lapas, Ross Lawagan, Dimitri Limbo, JRV Malayo, Simplicio Martal Jr, Jerome Marzan, Josh Miller, James Oberiano, Chima Uzoka, Patrick Valenzuela and Jake Vicen.
