A field-level study of the genetically-modified Bt eggplant has shown that it is safe for non-targeted insects, according to a research paper published in the scientific journal PLOS One by a team of scientists from the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) and Cornell University.

The data, collected over three growing seasons in the Philippines’ main eggplant-growing region of Pangasinan, shows no significant differences between the number of insects and other arthropods between the genetically modified Bt and non-Bt control eggplants.
