Liza Del Rosario and Biboy Rivera both finished fifth overall in the prestigious 2014 Bowling World Cup held at the Sky Center in Wroclaw, Poland.
The 37-year old Del Rosario had three wins and five losses for a total of 8,048 pinfalls in the women’s round-robin quarterfinals. She was behind Clara Juliana Guerrero of Colombia with 6-2 (8,353), Li Jane Sin of Malaysia with 5-3 (8,216), Brittni Hamilton of US with 4-4 (8,171) and Maria Bulanova of Russia with 5-3 (8,148).
Guerrero eventually took the title by beating Sin in the finals, 2-1, in the best-of-three finals (239-234, 243-257).
Rivera, on the other hand, also got three wins and five defeats for a total score of 8,350 pinfalls in the men’s round-robin quarterfinals.
Germany’s Tobias Bording (8,768), Chris Barnes of US (8,505) and Mykhaylo Kalika (8,523) took the top three spots to advance to the stepladder finals.
In the finals, Barnes swept Tobias, 2-0 (265-248 and 231-216) to claim the crown.
Del Rosario’s placing was the country’s highest finish since 2001 in Thailand while Rivera failed to duplicate his third-place showing in the 2010 edition in France.
