In wake of the ongoing stand-off by 75 Filipino troopers and Syrian rebels at the Golan Heights, elements of the Philippine military contingent to the conflict-racked territory are now being consolidated at Position 60.
The latter is also known as the headquarters of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), located in Camp Faouar.
This was disclosed late Friday evening by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) spokesman Major Gen. Domingo Tutaan.
He added that 58 Filipino peacekeepers were transported from their positions in the Golan Heights to Camp Faouar Friday afternoon (Syria time).
And for reasons of security, Tutaan declined to comment on where these troopers came from and when their pullout to UNDOF headquarters will be completed for security reasons.
The Philippines has 331 officers and enlisted personnel deployed to the UNDOF.
As of this posting, the AFP spokesman said the stand-off with Syrian rebels are still on. PNA
